Our office is equipped with the most advanced technology which facilitates a quick, easy and painless experience.

The Wand – Pain-Free Anesthetic Delivery
Over 50% of patients fear anesthetic syringes, according to a recent national survey. Some patients get more nervous at the mere sight of a needle. Discomfort from a dental "shot" is mostly due to the feeling of pressure created by the flow of dental anesthetic. A computer controlled injection system called the Wand can greatly relieve this discomfort.  The Wand doesn't look like a traditional syringe, so the patient's initial apprehension is minimized.  The Wand is a device that has revolutionized the way we numb our patients by virtually eliminating the usual discomfort patients feel.

Digital x-rays
At Dr. Schmidt's office we use digital dental X-Rays to provide even better dental care and more accurate diagnoses. The process of digitally capturing an image is much faster, safer and more comfortable for the patient. The digital dental X-ray system is more sensitive than dental X-ray film systems, so your exposure to radiation is cut by 90 percent. The large, color-enhanced images let you see what we see, so it's easier for you to understand how we will treat your teeth. Your fees don't include payment for photo chemicals, film, processing or film storage. Used photo chemicals and film are not polluting the environment. Your dental checkups take less time, and it's fun to watch this system work! Most patients are amazed.

Computer Cosmetic Imaging
Ever wonder what your smile would look like if your teeth were whiter and straighter? Curious about the effect cosmetic dentistry would have, but aren't ready to make the investment?  If so, consider computer digital imaging. Computer digital imaging offers a sneak peek at how your smile would look after undergoing a cosmetic dentistry procedure. Having the chance to view the results in advance can help you make the best decision about cosmetic dentistry

Intraoral Camera
One of the most useful advances in dental technology, the intraoral camera makes oral problems (such as cavities and gum disease) highly visible to both the dentist and the patient. This tiny device is inserted into the mouth, where it can accurately snap detailed photographs of areas to be treated. The patient and dentist can then view these photographs together and decide on the best solution.

Diode Laser
Drs. Roger and Pamela Schmidt and their periodontal therapists are certified with the Diode Laser.  The Diode Laser is used in our office in many different ways.  The doctors use the laser to change the look and shape of the gums.  The laser actually vaporizes unnecessary and unsightly tissue, leaving healthy, normal looking gums in place.  The laser is unmatched in its accuracy and effectiveness.  The process takes only a few minutes, there is usually very little discomfort and the results are instantaneous.

At Drs. Schmidt's office, our dental hygienists have received specialized training in Periodontal Laser Therapy by one of the most well-respected hygienists and trainers in North America - Janet Press, RDH.  Each hygienist spent individualized one-on-one time with Janet to perfect the techniques and benefits of Periodontal Laser Therapy.

To treat periodontal disease the diode laser is used in combination with a micro-ultrasonic hand instrument that detaches the biofilm (plaque) from the tooth surface.  Once the biofilm has been detached, the diode laser is used to sterilize the periodontal pockets and remove any infected tissue.  This process results in tissue reattaching to the bone and the gums returning to an infection-free state.  During this process we use a new form of needle-free anesthesia to make certain no discomfort is felt by the patient.
