In the area of removable prosthetics (dentures), Dr. Roger Schmidt has studied extensively with Dr. Joseph Massad.  Dr. Massad is world renowned for his expertise in the removable prosthetic aspect of dentistry.  He conducts national and international continuing education programs for the dental profession including a week long hands-on course at the University of Coimbra, Portgual where he taught 14 of the top Masters and PhD students in the prosthetic field in Portugal.

Dr. Schmidt's command in the field of removable prosthetics has benefited many of his patients.  One of the most difficult conditions to treat is the "negative ridge".  When a patient has lost all lower teeth, the lower ridge begins to "melt away" or resorb leaving nothing for a lower denture to rest on causing the patient to have difficulty chewing, speaking, and keeping lower dentures in place.  Dr. Schmidt's additional education addressing this condition has enabled him to provide his patients with stable, comfortable, custom fitting lower dentures.
